‘They Can Go To Hell,’ NSA Ribadu Slams Canada Over Visa Denial to Nigeria’s Defence Chief

National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu has criticized Canada for refusing visas to Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, and other senior military officers, describing the move as "disrespectful."

Speaking at the first annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS) in Abuja on Thursday, Ribadu expressed his frustration, stating that Canada “can go to hell” for its decision.

His comments followed Musa’s revelation that he and his team were denied visas to attend an official event in Canada on Wednesday, which was organized to honor war veterans.

“Every disappointment is a blessing. Yesterday, I was supposed to be in Canada for an event honoring our veterans, including those injured in battle, but we were denied entry,” Musa shared.

In response, Ribadu applauded the CDS for addressing the issue publicly and emphasized the need for Nigeria to grow stronger and more respected globally.

“Thank you for having the courage to speak out about Canada denying you visas. They can go to hell,” Ribadu said.

“While this is painful and disrespectful, we remain peaceful and resilient. I agree with you that it’s time to fix our country. This incident only strengthens our resolve to work harder and make Nigeria better.”

Ribadu also commended Musa for his efforts in combating insecurity and highlighted the ongoing collaboration among Nigeria’s security agencies to enhance national safety.
